Last night apparently my room was given the wrong wake up information so we woke up a half hour early. But it was ok. We had a nice quiet breakfast followed by some extra homework time. Then we got on the bus and headed out to our full day tiyul. In the morning we went to a sight where you could see all of the city of David and surrounding areas. Our over all goal for the day was to decipher why David choose Jerusalem as the center of his kingdom. We also talked about how he ended up being king instead of king Saul’s sons. (He killed them). Then we went to lunch in the old city and had about an hour to eat and walk around. I had some falafel and an apple. Then we went into The City of David. We discussed all the reasons and advantages of the placement of the city and decided that the most important reason was that the city was the only fresh water supply in the surrounding area. Because of that we then went on a tour of the water tunnels and pool. We spent about an hour walking through the tunnels (which were full of water) in the dark (we had flash lights but decided it was more fun to not use them). By the time we were out of the tunnels we had apparently dropped 100 meters but it did not feel like that at all! Then we realized we had to hike all the way back up. It was the exercise I have been missing. By the time all 3 classes finished it was 5 pm and we got back on the bus and headed back to Tzuba. We had free time to shower and eat dinner and then at 7 we split up by gender for a program talking about sex and such. It was the same type of thing I did in health class (communication, uncomfortable situations, etc.) not really about anything sexual. Then we finally had time to do homework. Now I am going to bed b/c I am super tired.
p.s. today I also learned that in Israel the buses (on their outer screen where the final destination of the bus is listed) also list a blessing for the people that read the sign and ride the bus. In other words, today I was blessed by a bus.
